The Protagonist is the main character of Christopher Nolan's film, Tenet. He is portrayed by actor John David Washington.

Not much is known about The Protagonist's background beside the fact his is an American citizen and a member of The Central Intelligence Agency.
Kyiv Mission
In Kyiv, Ukraine, the Protagonist is deployed, along with fellow operatives to pose as Ukrainian police during the conduction of a false-flag terror attack in order to extract of one of their spies and retrieve a mysterious "package". The Protagonist runs to the coat check station, finds the VIP's bag and pulls out the "package", a medium-sized metallic box.
