Essa Zahir is an actor who played a ferry prisoner in The Dark Knight. He received no credit for his role.
In the original storyline and film shoot, on hearing the Joker's plot, the prisoners errupt into panic, urging the warden to blow the other ferry up. Essa Zahir was one of those in the 'improvised scene'. Held back by armed guards, the pandemonium gets worse until Tommy "Tiny" Lister's character gets up and takes the device from the warden, throwing it away. The improvised scene was cut altogether from the cinema release version in 2008, but fully featured Essa Zahir sitting in a full frontal close up 'waiting to see what happens next'. In the DVD Special Edition release later, the "prisoners-on-ferry" scene was re-editted and Essa Zahir's full feature was reduced to a 'flash' side profile shot from another take.
