Al Pacino is an American actor and director who played Will Dormer in the film Insomnia.
Born in New York to parents of Italian heritage, Pacino began acting and joined the Herbert Berghof Studio. He then became part of the Actor's Studio, and starred in the film Panic in Needle Park in 1971. That role got him a lead in the film The Godfather in 1972, which propelled him to fame. He starred in numerous films throughout the end of the 20th century, gaining a reputation as one of the greatest actors of his generation. He has been nominated for many awards, winning the Academy Award for best actor in 1992 for the film Scent of a Woman.
